The Christmas Ball
Chapter: III
Pairings: None

"I know. And that's what I find the most irksome. I can only say that the Berserker had better know how to dance properly, as I do not plan on being a tutor for him. Good day, Vexen."

"Marluxia."

Vexen watched as the portal disappeared and he was once again left alone in his labs to brood over the whole ordeal. Him? Dancing? He had better things to do than to dance, although that mission-free week sounded pretty good... A sigh escaped his lips and he decided that he had better learn fast, because a week to get used to your partner wasn't as much time as one might think. He had considered creating a replica of himself to take his place in the contest, but it took several weeks to create a decent replica and program it's brain, and since Vexen didn't much know how to dance, himself, it would take longer to program the new information, which he did not have time for.

"I should go and find Demyx..." he muttered to himself, walking as opposed to taking a portal out of the room. He didn't eactly have enthusiasm to find the lad, so he walked as slowly as possible, and still the trek seemed so much shorter than normal. He rapped on the boy's door a few times, allowing another sigh to pass through his lips as the door opened. Demyx greeted him, although somewhat cautiously, and let him into the room.

"So you want to get started right away?"

"I suppose we'd better. Demyx...how long would you say it takes to learn how to dance?"

"Well, it depends on the person and the dance, but if you're saying that you don't know how, then if we're only doing one dance, it shouldn't even take the week. Don't worry about it, I can teach you and then we can get this thing over with because I know you're hating it already." Demyx chuckled.

"Well, all of us origional six, excluding Xigbar, know how to dance to a degree due to our old master throwing grand parties on occasion, but for some of us, that information is long gone and I mostly just need to refresh my memory."

Demyx smiled.

"Then it shouldn't take long at all. We can practice right here. I'll use my water clones to show you how it should be done and then you and I can copy them. You're taller, so you should probably lead."

Vexen nodded and watched as the young teen called up two clones, the two liquid bodies dancing lithely and gracefully to an imaginary tune that only they could hear. Vexen watched, practically studying them as they finished, the dance short so that he could remember each move, and began mimicing their movements, taking Demyx's hand and placing his other on the Nocturne's waist. He copied the dancing water to the best of his abilities, and once they were done, he got a nod of approval from Demyx.

"Not bad! But if I could say one thing, your movements were a bit jerky. It's really no big deal, but it makes it harder to predict your next move. I knew the dance this time, but if we were doing one from scratch, it would've been harder. Don't worry about it though, it's just because you're out of practice. A few more short dances like that one and you'll be good as new."

The Nocturn smiled and glanced back at the two aquatic figures that he had created.

"So what do you think? You want to keep going, or is that enough for today?"

The scientist thought for a moment. On one hand, he had already remembered a lot of what he had forgotten, so he probably didn't need much more practice. Then again, he didn't exactly want to return to his work since he didn't really have to, and dancing had actually proven to be somewhat relaxing, not to mention that it brought back fond memories of Even.

"Well..." he responded, taking a step back and releasing his grip on the sitarist. "I'm not sure. Honestly, I never would've pegged you the ballroom dancing type."

Demyx smirked.

"You shouldn't judge people on their appearance. But you're right. It's not really my thing, but my Somebody learned all kinds of dances anyway. Looking back, I don't know why I did, but I guess it came in handy, huh?" he grinned. Vexen chuckled in return.

"I suppose so, Demyx. I suppose so."
Not sure where I'm going with this story anymore... It was supposed to be comedy, but I epic phail. |D And now it seems that all of the chapters will have a similar storyline. One character can't dance, the other can and the one who can dance teaches the one who can't. I'm trying to fix that, but it's not like all of the chapters are the same anyway, even if the story line is similar. But now I'm rambling, so I'll shut up.
